Col. 3:16-17 "Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all wisdom he gives....And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus...." If the word of God dwells in us fully, there are somethings we might not say or do. But the issue is, either the word falls by the road side, on the rocks or in thorns.
Any of these could serve as a catalyst to make the word of God unprofitable to us. "Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered..." (Mark 7:13). The power in the word comes alive when we put it to work. But sometimes we are tied to traditions. "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise...."(1 Cor. 1:18-19).
