YOU WERE FORMED BEFORE YOU BECAME

Title: You were formed before you became!
Scripture: Genesis 2:7, NLT

"Then the Lord God FORMED the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man's nostrils, and the man BECAME a living person."

Some people want to become what they were not formed to be. It can lead to frustration. Anything that was ever made or created was originally formed as a thought. Then it was put into action, to bring into being something new. God placed in each of us the very things that we need to become what He made us to be. We must search for His thought concerning our life and live it, rather than chasing after iconic figures to be like them.

The devil can sow contrasting ideas to distract you and to make you lose focus. But always know that, God had an original plan for your life, and that can never be aborted. Before you BECAME anything, you were first FORMED! Your formation was God's idea, and the in-formation of your birth was sent through your parents. Even before creation, God had you in mind. THERE WAS FORMATION BEFORE IN-FORMATION

Title: There was formation before in-formation
Scripture: Jeremiah 1:5, NLT

"I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations."

As we grow, our dreams become bigger and wider. And if we are not careful we can deviate from our original purpose. But no matter how nice your dream may sound, or how detailed your set goals may be, note that:
1)God knew you already. 2) Set you apart. 3) Appointed you.

So before you think of achieving any major goal in life, first ask yourself, What was God thinking before I was formed in my mother's womb? If we will all come to know God's original intent for our lives, there would be less of the "I want-to-be-better-than you" syndrome that is destroying many people. God knew you before you were born. Which means that He had an original plan for your life.
There was a FORMATION of you by God, before your mother received the IN-FORMATION (signal), that you were inside her womb. You are not a mistake! AB@TWDevotional

GOD IS NOT FINISHED WITH YOU!

Title: God is not finished with you!
Scripture: Jeremiah 33:10-11, NIV

"This is what the Lord says: 'You say about this place, It is a desolate waste, without people or animals.' Yet in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem that are deserted, inhabited by neither people nor animals, there will be heard once more the sounds of joy and gladness, the voice of bride and bridegroom, and the voices of those who bring thank offerings to the house of the Lord saying, 'Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good; his love endures forever.' For I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were before, says the Lord."

There comes a time in life when we feel God is not listening anymore, or feel the enemy is caught up with us and destroyed all we so cherish. We may even feel like throwing in the towel because, we wonder why we have prayed so much and God seems not to be answering. The tank is empty but God is saying today that, what you lost and are seeking to regain will be restored to you once more. EN@TWDevotional

YOU HAVE SOMETHING

Title: You also have something
Scripture: Matthew 25:15

"And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man ACCORDING TO HIS SEVERAL ABILITIES.

Some people want to get to big positions before they put in their best effort. This doesn't help them to rise any higher. If you are able to shine even in obscurity, then it means that when you are brought into the lamp light you won't struggle to shine. Don't expect to reach a higher level before giving your best shot, because it might be too late. Make sure you do your very best, now that you are not well known. For very soon when God brings you into prominence, you may not be able to make amends.

There is something you carry, that no one else can take away. God formed you and placed it in you. It has been uniquely purposed to help you fulfill your divine mandate on earth. Don't lose guard, use what you have now to get what you desire in the future. Some may have received five or two talents. But at least you also have something. AB@TWDevotional

WHO HAS SENT YOU?

Title: Who has sent you?
Scripture: Exodus 3:13-14

"But Moses protested, if I go to the people of Israel and tell them, The God of your ancestors has sent me to you, they will ask me, What is his name? Then what should I tell them? God replied to Moses, I Am Who I Am. Say this to the people of Israel: I AM has sent me to you."

Who has sent you? In whose name have you come? At some point in your life, you shall meet your Pharaoh. Your Pharaoh can be that stubborn situation that won't go. Or that challenge that you are struggling to overcome. Scenario: Someone is arrested and whiles in police custody, he  tells them of his relation with a prominent person in society and gives them his name. Immediately he is released! The secret was in the name.

The person whose name was mentioned need not to be there physically, but because of his name the man is set free. How much more the All-powerful God? No matter the situation you may be in, declare, "I come in the name of I AM." And may God deliver you from any Pharaoh! AB@TWDevotional

YOU KNOW THE NAME RIGHT?

Title: You know the name right?
Scripture: John 8:56-58, NLT

"Your father Abraham rejoiced as he looked forward to my coming. He saw it and was glad." The people said, "You aren't even fifty years old. How can you say you have seen Abraham?" Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I Am!"

This statement was meant to silence those critics who thought of Jesus as too young to say the kind of things He said. "In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God. And the WORD was God." So if God tells Moses His name is I AM. And Jesus is the word of God that became flesh and dwelt amongst us; and He is also God, then you must understand why Jesus said "before Abraham was born, I AM." Note that He didn't say I WAS.

This shows His relevance even in our current dispensation. He is the ancient of days and yet still omnipresent. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. If you ask me who He is, I will tell you His name is I AM. The never changing God! I know His name, do you? Selah! AB@TWDevotional

WHO IS HE TO YOU?

Title: Who is he to you?
Scripture: Mark 8:27-30, NLT

"As they were walking along, he asked them, Who do people say I AM? Well, they replied, some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say you are one of the other prophets. Then he asked them, But who do you say I AM?"

Until you catch a personal revelation of who Christ is, you could be distracted by the views of others. People have a lot to say about who God is, but you must be convinced deep within your heart about who he is. Your relationship with Him will give you a revelation of His person. And when others ask you about your God, you would have a good report to give.

Jesus never suffered from identity crisis. He knew who HE WAS, but He wanted to see if through His relationship with His disciples, they had caught the revelation of who HE IS. Peter answered well and said, "You are Christ; which also means the Messiah." He came as the saviour and that was the revelation Peter had. Now who is He to you too? Don't limit Him. He is the GREAT I AM! AB@TWDevotional

CAN YOU DRINK POISON? (RELOADED)

"Get rid of all BITTERNESS, rage, anger, harsh words and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you."(Eph. 4:31-32, NLT) There's an urgent need to get rid of BITTERNESS especially in the church. Because of it, many people are dying slowly from the inside. BITTERNESS: "Drinking poison and hoping someone else dies." Its that serious. Therefore you are being warned to guard your heart with all diligence. Many ministries have been divided, homes and marriages have been broken. Family ties have been destroyed. Good friends have been separated. People have lost their jobs and all that because of bitterness. It is more of a root issue than a fruit matter. It goes deep down and not on the surface. You may not see it showing outwardly but it can cause serious internal damages. The more you harbor bitterness, the more it destroys you. Guard your heart! AB@TWDevotional

NEVER LOSE FOCUS!

Title: Never lose focus
Scripture: Matthew 14:28-31, NLT

"Then Peter called to him, "Lord, if it's really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water." Yes, come, Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. "Save me, Lord!" he shouted. Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. You have so little faith, Jesus said. Why did you doubt me?"(Matt. 14:28-31, NLT).

Sometimes everything would be going on well, until something unexpected hits you. It could be sickness, financial handicap, divorce, a break-up in a relationship or termination of an appointment. All these things can drown and drain you. Therefore I suggest you have R.E.S.T in Jesus. You must have RESILIENCE, ENDURANCE, STAMINA, and TENACITY. You must stay focused no matter the storm that comes your way. Jesus wants you to know that He can even walk on whatever frightens you. So keep looking at Him; don't lose focus and you won't sink. GOD HAS A TATTOO?

Title: God has a tattoo?
Scripture: Isaiah 49:16, NLT

"See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands. Always in my mind is a picture of Jerusalem's walls in ruins."

It would be hard for God to forget about you once He has your name written in His palms. Its so amazing how concerned He is about us, and we sometimes fail to see. Look at another version: "Behold, I have indelibly imprinted (tattooed a picture of) you on the palm of each of My hands; (O Zion) your walls are continually before Me."(AMP)

God has your concern and well-being at heart. Your thoughts have filled His mind; and they are thoughts of good not evil. He doesn't just know you; He also knows you by name. You are constantly on His mind, because your name is engraved in His palms. Whenever He opens His hands to do anything or release any blessing, He sees your name boldly written (like a tattoo), then He makes you taste of His goodness. If God would ever be accused of having a tattoo, then it would be a picture of you-His special one!

"When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour."(Ps. 8:3-7).

Sometimes I get overwhelmed by the extent to which God loves us. Behold what manner of love the father has given unto us. That we should be called the sons of God! His love for you is unsearchable and He hides you in his bossom never to be harmed. He proves His love by having your name written in His palms. But even come to think of it, how can he write in his palms since he is a Spirit? But this is not to be taken literally, because some people would want to do their own things and justify it. Don't be misled. God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth! You're special to God and He has you on His mind. And thats all that matters. WHEN HOPE BECOMES DIFFICULT

..."Even when there was no reason for HOPE, Abraham kept hoping-believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, "That's how many descendants you will have!" Abraham never wavered in believing God's promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises."(Rom. 4:18, 20-21, NLT). Sometimes our HOPE may waver, because we cannot seem to see beyond our "reality". In a while, we lose focus of what was told us. Abraham left his Father's house at age 75 in HOPE, and 25 years down the line nothing had happened. But he still had HOPE. He humbly obeyed persistently in expectation awaiting God's promises. Today he's a Father to both Jews and Gentiles. If only we will also hope against all hope; to Humbly Obey and Persevere with Expectation, God will surely come through for us. You may have lost some things, but its time to HOPE again! Start now...Priscy@TWDevotional

NEVER GET DISAPPOINTED!

Title: Never get disappointed
Scripture: Psalm 40:4

"Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust"(Ps. 40:4).

Many of us sometimes expect so much from others that, we get disappointed when they fail to deliver. We should bear in mind that, people are not super beings but MERE HUMANS. They may promise; but in as much as they may mean well, circumstances can cause them to disappoint. Their failure to deliver can get to us so much that, we may become bitter, angry or grow cold towards them. But the Bible warns us;  "Cursed are those who put their trust in MERE HUMANS, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord." (Jer. 17:5).

This is not to say we should not trust the people in our lives. But the emphasis is on 'Not to put our trust in them and get to a point where we rely on them other than God'. That will result in a curse! "It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man."(Ps. 118:8). People are MERE HUMANS and anything is possible. Rather rely on God and you shall never be disappointed! AB@TWDevotional

ARE YOU WILLING OR OBEDIENT

Title: Are you willing or obedient?
Scripture: Isa. 1:19

"If ye be WILLING and OBEDIENT, ye shall eat the good of the land..."

I see these two things as key elements when it comes to receiving blessings from God. Your willingness to receive from Him and your obedience to His instructions, together would cause His blessings to overflow in your life. You can't do one and leave the other. Many people seem to have the willingness to be blessed but are not being obedient.

"Be careful to obey all the commands I am giving you today. Then you will live and multiply, and you will enter and occupy the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors." (Deut. 8:1). "If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world."(Deut. 28:1).

Some blessings may have delayed, simply because we are not being obedient in some area of our life, even though we may be willing. Remember to obey is better than to sacrifice! AB@TWDevotional

KNOWING THE MESSENGER!

Title: Knowing the messenger
Scripture: John 10:27, AMP

"The sheep that are My own hear and are listening to MY VOICE; and I know them, and they FOLLOW ME."

Sometimes it may seem to you that the messenger and the message are hard to identify, but they are ALWAYS right by you. How many times have we not covered our heads with pillows to dawn preachers? Or ignored the beggar at the traffic lights? How many times have we allowed our radio dials to scan on when it stops at that gospel channel? We need to cultivate the attitude of being eager to hear and listen to the Word of God.

"All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness."(2 Tim 3:16, NIV). In today's world, God is dropping loads of messages by us, be it home, at school, or at work. If only you'll understand that His word is His breath you'll not go through each day without listening and following HIS VOICE. The messenger is here right now, I pray that you will HEAR him and FOLLOW Jesus. Shalom! EN@TWDevotional

LISTEN TO YOUR DONKEY!

Title: Listen to you donkey?
Scripture: Numbers 22:28, NLT

"Then the Lord gave the donkey the ability to speak...".

God can use different means to speak or draw our attention to some things. In church, he may use your pastor to send a specific message to you. In your workplace, he may use your boss to keep you in check. In your relationship, he may use your beloved to warn you. In your marriage he may use your husband/ wife to speak wisdom to you. Which ever way  it may come, see it as God speaking to you. We may see them as normal and their means of transmission as not being spectacular, so we ignore them and miss out on the word from God.

Don't disregard the messenger and ignore the message. It could be your word in season. The packaging may not be as you may expect, but the content has value. God is speaking to many hearts on certain issues but they seem not to get it because they are expecting it to come in some refined way. But if God could make a donkey speak, then you must not despise whoever God sends to you. AB@TWDevotional

HOPE REINFORCEMENT!

Title: Hope reinforcement
Scripture: Psalm 146:5

"But JOYFUL are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose HOPE is in the Lord their God."(NLT). "BLESSED are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose HOPE is in the Lord their God."(NIV) "Instead, get help from the God of Jacob, put your HOPE in God and know REAL BLESSING!"(MSG). "HAPPY (blessed, fortunate, enviable) is he who has the God of (special revelation to) Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God."(AMP).

From today's text, we clearly see that, for us to be happy, joyful, and blessed, then we must turn to God. When you have the God of Jacob(Israel) as your HELP and HOPE then all these things shall follow you. Who do you go to for help? And in whom have you put your hope? It could be the reason why you are either happy or sad. There's real joy and blessing when you hope in the Lord. "And now Lord, what wait I for? My hope is in thee."(Ps. 39:7). Strenthen your hope in the Lord your helper, and you shall be happy and blessed! AB@TWDevotional

WHERE IS YOUR H.O.P.E?

Title: Where is your Hope?
Scripture: John 9:6-7, NLT

"Then he spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and spread the mud over the blind man's eyes. He told him, "Go wash yourself in the pool of Siloam"(Siloam means SENT). So the man went and washed and came back seeing!"

For many of us what may have delayed our miracle is that we are H.O.P.E deficient. There is a saying that 'keep hope alive' and its very important. "Hope doesn't disappoint..."(Rom. 5:5). It maketh not ashamed! What is this H.O.P.E? The blind man aided the release of his own miracle by his: Humility.Obedience.Perseverance&Expectation. Jesus spat on the ground and made a mixture of saliva and mud and applied it on his eyes. He received the treatment in HUMILITY. He was asked to go and wash it off in a "particular pool"(SENT) and he OBEYED. He might have had challenges going because he was still blind but he never gave up but PERSEVERED. Because he had an EXPECTATION to see, and he did. You too need H.O.P.E to release that miracle! AB@TWDevotional

WHOSE VOICE DO YOU HEAR?

Title: Whose voice do you hear?
Scripture: Isaiah 30:21

"Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you A VOICE will say, 'This is the way you shall go' whether to the right or to the left."

It is good to hear A VOICE, if only it is from God. We would have been saved from so many troubles if at some point in our lives we heard God clearly on some matters. There seems to be a lot of distractive voices these days. But God has been speaking since creation. Our success at whatever we do depends on whether or not we hear God's voice and obey.

In a time of famine God told Isaac: "Do not go down to Egypt, but do as I tell you. Live here as a foreigner in this land, and I will be with you and bless you."(Gen. 26:1-3). And in V12-13 we see the results of his obedience: He PLANTED and in the same year HARVESTED more than he INVESTED and EXPECTED! He became a very rich man and his wealth continued to grow. The secret is to hear God's voice and do as He says. Be mindful of the voices you heed to, they may not be of God! AB@TWDevotional

YOU HEARD THE VOICE YOU WANTED

YOU HEARD THE VOICE YOU WANTED!
Title: You heard the voice you wanted
Scripture: Isaiah 30:18, NLT

We want to hear from God because we have a need, a choice to make when at a crossroad or in troubling times.
"So the Lord must wait for you to come to Him so he can show you His love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for His help."(Isa.30:18,NLT)
NB: (1)The Lord is waiting for you to come to Him. Entering His throne room greatly reduces the chances that you will hear any other VOICE.(2)The blessed one is the one who waits for His VOICE. Waiting on God can be a daunting task these days. The hardships and the risks of loosing out because you are running late in making a decision can cause us to look to the solution the world offers.

"You said, 'No, we will get our help from Egypt. They will give us swift horses for riding into battle. 'But the only swiftness you are going to see is the swiftness of your enemies chasing you!(Isa. 30:16). God is a faithful God, he waits to show you love. Will you also wait to hear His VOICE?
