1John1:15 "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever."
Most of the time, life presents us with opportunities and gifts which are usually blessings from God, because bible tells us that all good and perfect gifts are from above. Even so, we are told not to love them.
The love of the world and the things it has to offer us is one sure way of throwing our salvation away. We were bought with a price and we are not of ourselves. That's what the bible says. Every gift God gives us is not for ourselves only, but for the church. So the next time we value wealth, feel like giving in to lustful desires or take pride in ourselves or our gains, let's remember that we are losing the mark of the Love of the Father. It is easy to be proud, but much better to be humble. A man once said; if you want to see the true nature of someone, give him power. Well let the world see Christ in us even as we soar high.
PRAYER
Help us Lord to love you and our neighbours even as you continually bless us and fulfil your promises in our lives. Amen.
